Design & Themes
The Design tab in the survey builder controls how your survey looks to respondents — the background, colors, fonts, corners, and buttons. Pick a ready-made design, then adjust it if you want something closer to your brand.
Everything you choose here applies everywhere your survey appears: the public link, an embedded survey on your own site, and the preview.
Display Style
The first choice is how respondents move through your questions:
| Style | Description |
|---|---|
| One at a time | A conversational, focused flow — one question per screen with smooth transitions. Higher completion rates. |
| All on one page | A classic scrollable form — best for short surveys. |
With One at a time, respondents get a polished, modern experience: they can select choice answers with keyboard shortcuts (A–Z letter keys, number keys for ratings, Y/N for yes/no), swipe between questions on mobile, and pick up where they left off with “Save & continue later”.
Choosing a Design
The design gallery offers 33 ready-made looks. Each tile is rendered with that design’s real background, fonts, and button style, so what you see in the gallery is what respondents get.
Click a tile to apply it — the survey updates immediately.
Design categories
Use the category chips above the gallery to narrow the list:
| Category | Character |
|---|---|
| Minimal | Clean, light, understated — the safest choice for a business survey |
| Gradient | Soft color washes that feel modern and approachable |
| Dark | Light text on a dark background; strong for product and tech audiences |
| Editorial | Serif typography with a print-inspired, considered feel |
| Playful | Bright colors, rounded shapes, and patterned backgrounds |
| Immersive | Photographic and atmospheric backgrounds for a premium feel |
Every design already handles readability for you — dark and vivid designs adjust their text, inputs, and controls so answers stay legible.
Switching to a different design clears any adjustments you have made. If you plan to fine-tune colors or fonts, decide on the base design first, then adjust. Clicking the design you are already using does not reset it — it opens the Adjust panel instead.
Fine-Tuning a Design
Click Adjust on the design you are using to open the fine-tuning panel. A miniature live preview sits beside the controls, so you can see each change as you make it. Switch the preview between the Welcome and Question screens to check both.
Fonts
Choose separate heading and body fonts from a curated set:
- Sans serif — Plus Jakarta Sans, Inter, DM Sans, Outfit, Poppins, Space Grotesk
- Serif — Playfair Display, Lora, Source Serif 4
- Monospace — IBM Plex Mono
Each font is shown in its own typeface in the dropdown, so you can compare them before choosing.
Accent color
Set the color used for buttons, selected answers, and focus outlines. Pick it
with the color swatch, or type an exact hex value (for example #0F766E) to
match your brand.
If your accent is too close to the background to be clearly visible, a warning appears with the measured contrast ratio. Aim for at least 3:1 so buttons and focus outlines stay easy to see.
Corners
Controls how rounded inputs, answer options, cards, and buttons are — from None (sharp) through S, M, L, to Full (pill-shaped).
Buttons
Choose the button style:
- Filled — solid accent color
- Outline — transparent with an accent border
- Soft — a light tint of the accent color
Resetting
Each control shows a Reset link once you change it, returning just that setting to the design’s original value. Reset all returns the survey to the unmodified design.
Logo
Add your organization’s logo, shown on the welcome and thank-you screens:
- Click “Upload Logo” in the Design tab
- Select an image file
- Choose a position — left, center, or right
Supported formats: PNG, JPG, JPEG, SVG, WebP Maximum size: 2MB
Square images of 512×512 pixels or larger look best.
Designs on Published Surveys
Design is not locked after publishing. You can change the design, colors, fonts, and logo of a live survey at any time. Only the survey’s structure — adding, removing, or retyping questions — is locked once responses can arrive.
Remember to click Save in the builder header — published surveys do not autosave.
